23rd December 2007
The WEEE Directive & Digital Freedom Ltd (Box77.co.uk)
The company has until the 23rd December 2007 created no waste
electrical & electronic equipment. The following text is intended
as a statement of intent regarding our future management of WEEE
This page aims to set forth the company's obligations, policy
and activity regarding any waste electrical and electronic equipment
that its activities and trade may create.
The goal of our WEEE policy is to create as little unnecessary
waste as possible, to maximise the usefulness of any electrical
items that belong to the company and to dispose of any items that
have reached their end of life in as safe and environmentally
conscious manner as possible. Furthermore, we advise our users,
clients and staff to dispose of their personal equipment in a
responsible and environmentally friendly manner.
To this end we make information available regarding local authority
and commercial recycling points local to our registered office.
We also inform clients, staff and the public where they may obtain
further details from UK government and European bodies regarding
WEEE and its disposal.
We believe that one of the most effective ways of managing and
limiting the creation of global WEEE is to limit the amount of
new electrical equipment that is purchased in the first place.
Where no advantage exists (eg: a new item may have a power saving
that over its lifetime justifies it replacing another working
item) we strive to use reclaimed / refurbished and second user
components and systems wherever possible. Over its lifetime with
the company and beyond, a machine's primary use and user may change
to reflect its relative specification at a specific time. We attempt
at all times where viable to recover usable and working components
from non-working machines.
